StaffPatrick is founder of Parakletos Psychotherapy & Counseling and a Licensed Professional Counselor. He is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. He has been a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors since 2002. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Saint Leo College and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Regent University. Patrick began counseling in June 1994 as a substance abuse counselor while on active duty in the Coast Guard and spent his first two years of counseling at the Navy Alcohol Rehabilitation Center (ARC) Jacksonville, FL. He was awarded Counselor of the Year at ARC Jacksonville in 1995. In August 1996, he transferred to the Naval Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) Norfolk. In May 1997, he transitioned to civilian life and worked for nine more years as a civilian counselor for SARP Norfolk. During that time, he spent four years assigned to SARP Norfolk’s Naval Air Station Oceana office in Virginia Beach, VA. His active duty service consisted of four years in the Navy and 10 years in the Coast Guard. In June 2005, Patrick left SARP Norfolk to open Parakletos Psychotherapy & Counseling. He returned to the Navy counseling program in March 2007 and spent 10 months providing family advocacy case management at the Fleet and Family Support Center, Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Norfolk, VA. In January 2008, he was hired by Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake, VA as the Clinical Operations Coordinator for their Therapeutic Community program. Patrick’s areas of counseling include marital and relationship counseling, depression, anxiety, anger and stress related problems, substance abuse and other addictions, and weight management. Patrick and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 23 years and reside in Chesapeake with their three children. Patrick and his family attend church in Chesapeake.

Sarah began working at Parakletos Psychotherapy & Counseling as the Administration Program Manager when we opened in October 2005. She was instrumental in developing the many systems needed to operate the administrative programs and serves as the primary consultant for essential front office functions. A few of her responsibilities include appointment scheduling, financial management, and collaborating with several local agencies necessary for operating our office. Sarah is a native of Pascagoula, MS and spent her first 13 years of marriage as a military wife while her husband, Patrick, was on active duty.
